The Targus 9-pin to 30-pin adaptor allows older accessories, designed to connect to the iPod's remote connection, to be used with the iPod with video and iPod nano which do not have the remote connector.  This adaptor also allows owner's of older iPods to use two accessories at once, such as wireless remote and FM transmitter.
